Urban Farming Work



4 classmates and I worked at Whitelock Community Farm this last semester for our Urban Farming class.
We spent the last couple of months rebuilding the hoop house, digging trenches and holes, turning over beds, planting seeds and transplanting seedlings.

Using the Devore process, which removes the cotton from poly-cotton fabric, this book creates a dialogue about words and communication through transparency and text.
The fabric is all hand dyed and the book hand bound.

"Open Up" a book for connection

Participants slip hands into arm forms sewn into the book.
One partcipant sits with palms facing up, the other down.
The hands share the same fingers but, it is difficult and nearly impossible to reach the partner.
A connection is made, a narrative is created.
